This pasta all starts with a tub of cream cheese and that cream cheese is very specifically the whipped pizza cream cheese from Trader Joe’s. I bought this shmear on a whim at TJ’s when I was hosting a brunch and loved it on my bagel. When I had leftovers, I decided to turn it into a pasta sauce, remembering that time I made everything bagel pasta.

Boil your spaghetti and when it’s done, start melting the pizza cream cheese. Add some of the pasta water and a bit of salt, along with frozen peas. The sauce will become saucy just as the peas get warmed through. Use tongs to add the spaghetti to the pan and crack some black pepper in there. Maybe some red pepper flakes. Chopped pepperoni would be great, but not necessary. Get it into a serving dish and top with a mound of fried shallots (also from TJ’s).

I love a cream sauce. I especially love a cream sauce that takes zero effort but is still better than opening a jar.
